This was a group of native Hawaiians who enterained tourists and instructed them on the art of surfing. One of the groups most famous members was Duke Kahanamoku who is considered the father of modern surfing.

The Pipeline is one of the most famous and dangerous surfing locations in the world. Many have attempted to surf there and failed. Some have even died in the process. Phil Edwards was the first to ever conquer this notorious surfing spot.
At the beginning of the 40's surfing quieted down because of World War II. People monitored beaches in fear of invasion. Once the war was over surfing came back and even started to undergo a revolution.
