This surfer was born in Sydney Australia in 1947. He began shredding waves when he was only ten years old. In 1963 he won first place in the Australian Surfing Championships. In 1965 he went on to win second place in the World Championships. Nat teamed up with Bob McTavish and George Greenough to create the "magic slim" board. This is regarded as the missing link between the longboard and the shortboard. He became a very aggressive and cocky surfer and was nicknamed "The Animal." After winning a few shortboard events in Hawaii and Australia he retired for a short time and returned to the scene in 1974. He later switched back to the longboarding in the 1980s and won four titles by 1990.
