This rad surfette began surfing in the early 80's when surfing was still a male dominated sport. She grew up in Ormond Beach, Florida. She was thirteen when her interest in surfing was sparked and she was the only girl in her hometown that surfed. Her parents were not thrilled over her love for surfing, so she ran away at 16 and moved to Huntington Beach, California. Ian Cairns, a former pro surfer, discovered her sleeping under a table. Lisa convinced him to give her a slot in a surf contest that was run by him. She won that event and went on to win thirty-five National Scholastic Surfing Association trophies and four world titles. These include pro events in the United States and Australia.
